Fluency

Born in 1975, Jim has a Masters Degree from St Catherine's College, Oxford University, an MBA from Tanaka Business School, Imperial College and is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Jim started his career in 1997 as a trainee at Blick Rothenberg, and was made partner within the firm in July 2007. Since joining he has been engaged in a number of activities including internal audit and systems reviews and various accounting investigations. In the audit department he managed a portfolio of over 100 clients from numerous different countries and industries. During 2002 he was seconded to our associate office in Vancouver, where he enhanced his experience of international issues.

He was appointed a director of BRAL in 2004 and has active responsibility for assisting international clients setting up in the UK wishing to outsource their back office functions, especially those coming to the UK from the US. He has been heavily involved in BRAL becoming the first known UK accounting firm to be SAS 70 Type II accredited. More recently he has been working on the implementation and roll out of eBRAL, our award nominated extranet solution.

Jim enjoys reading, cooking more than he should, running less than he should and is working hard at lowering his rather high golf handicap.

Nilesh Shah is Blick Rothenberg’s head of tax with his specialisation being in the area of corporate tax and VAT, both with a strong international focus.

Nilesh has advised many international companies on successfully establishing operations in the UK and other territories, advising on the correct tax structure as well as commercial considerations. He also has extensive transfer pricing experience. He represents Blick Rothenberg, BRAL and Fluency on his regular trips to the USA, Canada and India, and has spoken at professional conferences on a wide range of topics.

Nilesh is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is also an Associate of the Institute of Taxation and the Institute of Indirect Taxation. He has chaired both the European and International Tax Committees of BKR International.

Jo started her career in a general practice carrying out a mixed role of audit, accounts preparation, management accounts, VAT and taxation. In 2006, after over 9 years of general practice experience, Jo joined BRAL; Fluency’s sister company; as a Manager of one of our service delivery teams. She was responsible for a portfolio of larger clients covering a variety of industries, dealing with ongoing management and system development and implementation. These clients included groups with operations in up to six different countries across Europe and North America

In 2008 Jo joined the Senior Management Team and was responsible for client service delivery. Applying her breadth of client service experience to meet with prospective clients and discuss their back office accounting needs and how we can integrate them into our systems.

In 2010 Jo was appointed a director and continues to play an active role in the set up of clients and partner firms on to the Fluency systems as well as managing the relationships with our international partner firms on an ongoing basis and developing new systems and initiatives to enhance our service delivery.

When Jo is away from the office she is a keen netballer and enjoys spending time socialising with friends and family.
